Lighthouse & Beach Life

Nov 2015

I purchased the pattern Up, Down & All Around by Absolutely Positively Quilt Designs while on the San Diego trip this year.  It is a pattern to use panels up to 8 inches.  I pulled from the stash this panel of lighthouses and beach stuff and had 3 companion fabrics, the beach, stripe and waves.  I added the green and red fabrics from my stash.  The panels were not square and not 8 inches so I added the black pebble around each to make 8 inch squares.  I really like the results!

Show-Off Aquarium

Nov 2015

I made this quilt top.  I got the pattern this past summer from Quilter's Attic in Terrebonne, OR; Show-Off on Broadway by Lynndi Enright.  The store had two quilts made up and I really liked it.  The lines are actually flanges and when I quilt it they will be quilted down and it will give the quilt motion.  Only change I would do would be to use a darker grey fabric for the shadow.

Safari Fun Animals

Nov 2015

Mom made this quilt top.  She bought the fabric on the last Sister's Oregon trip, July 2015, at the small shop in Willows CA called Quilt Corral.  The pattern is Slide Show by Atkinson Designs.  I backed the quilt in a leopard print minkie.  I did a large stipple in the major part of the quilt and Leah Day's Double Sharp Stipple.  I used an 80/20 batt.  Nice a soft.

Beer Quilt for Shawn

Nov 15, 2015

Mom purchased this kit at PIQF last month with the expectation to have it done for Shawn for Christmas or his birthday at the latest.  The pattern, Pubapalooza by Mary Hubka and the Sweetreat are from Pincushion Boutique.  Mom finish the top and while Shawn was in Oregon I got it quilted.  I quilted it simply with a large stipple in every other row and outline the beer bottles on the other rows. In the border I create my own beer mug motif and quilted it.  I am pleased with the results.  I put a large zig zag around the beer mugs to provide more quilting in the borders.

Marble Floor

Nov 8, 2015

I don't recall when I completed the quilt top on this.  The pattern is Picture This from the book Happy Hour.  The fabrics are marble/stone prints.  I quilted each color differently and used Angela Walters books Free-Motion Quilting and Shape by Shape.

Lighthouse Picture Window quilt

Nov 2015,

Not sure when Mom completed this quilt top.  She purchased the fabric at Quilt Nest in Castle Rock Washington while on the trip with Karen, Trina to Mount Saint Helen.  The display version of the quilt was of a golfer fabric.  The pattern from the fabric manufacturer.  The store had this lighthouse fabric and it was from the same manufacturer so the store owner put together the quilt for her.

I outlined the window panes.  The sand areas I used flowing sand motif from Leah Day.  The two panes that have square on point I did a spiral in and out box echo.  The grass panes were quilts in my version of spiky grass.  The sky panes are in my version of puffy clouds and streaky clouds, inspiration from Laura Lee Fritz Continuous-Line Quilting Designs books.  The lighthouse panes were a combination of outlining the fabric motifs, grass, sky and calm water quilting motifs.
