Mom made this quilt top many years ago. It is based on the Pin Wheel pattern in the Quiltmaker magazine July/August 1998. Karen had this magazine and if I remember correctly mom bought the fabric and started the project while visiting her on one of our many trips. Although it looks correct I think it is missing a row in the middle of quilt where diamonds are formed instead of triangles. The fabric is a strip with lion, tigers, giraffes and other safari animals. It is a great way how stars are formed with a strip fabric.
This was my first quilt where I used the straight ruler on the mid-arm system. I used it to go around the star and in the triangles increasing and decreasing. It was great quilt to learn and practice on using a ruler. My Bailey doesn't have large quilting bad and took a bit to learn in keeping the ruler steady.

April 2016 Guild Block of Month
This was fun and easy.
I made these two blocks
Here is the what the guild made. I spoke to the coordinators and she said they forgot to add the additional information that the house portion of the block could be any traditional quilt block like a churn dash. Oh well, I think it looks cool.
