July 2023 - Global & Animal quilt

July 2023,

I finished quilting this quilt and this one block wonder and gave to my great nephews (Elaine's boys).  I thought the two quilts would be great for making forts out of pillows and blankets (if kids still do that).

 

August 2020,

I had a mini retreat.  I started a new project by cutting apart a panel with the alphabet.  I used left over batik jelly roll strips to go around each letter.  I then trimmed them all to the smallest square.  With the globe in the center I tried several arrangements.  I completed this quilt top that mini retreat weekend except for the outer boarder as I needed more of that fabric which I got from Bay Quilts.

Animal Panel from Karen

 September 2020,

Karen came for a visit and brought me this very cute panel.  I decided to use scraps and multiple colors as that is my happy place.  Using Moonglow as and example I put the lightest color in the center of the log cabin blocks and then got darker.  I really like the effect.  Finished the quilt top in November 2020.

PIQF Virtual - Class: Panel Palooza by Cyndi McChesney

I have soooo many panels that when I saw this class in the PIQF catalog it became my #1 choice.  Dale Y and Patti B also took the class.  It was really informative.  Cyndi covered the basics of deciding on a design.  How to design/graph the quilt.  Basics of construction.  This class would have been great as a two part class.  

I started with a fabric bundle I had gotten at the Santa Rosa Quilt Show in 2019 which had panel, boarder and companion fabrics.  

I completed the quilt top in Dec 2020 and quilted it in January 2021.  

I want to do more of these as I feel it is a stepping stone to me being more creative.

PIQF - Virtual Oct 2020 - Class: Madison Ave with Linda Hahn

October 2020

Due to the Pandemic, Pacific International Quilt Show is virtual.  I took the Zoom class Madison Ave with Linda Hahn.  Dale Y and Katie D also took the class.  This is a New York Beauty block that is done with stay-in stabilize/interface.  I used pattern-eze that I've had for years.  This really made for accurate blocks and no need to rip out the "paper".  YEAH.

I used this quilt to do the Angela Walters Quilt Along with rulers.  I learned a lot!  

I made the binding change colors when the quilt was other then grey. A modern quilt technique.
