Mom purchased this mystery quilt kit while at the Huston show and completed it many years ago. I decided to quilt each block with a different motif so I wouldn't get bored with it plus I could expand upon my quilting motifs. I started quilting this is August and about half way through I realized I had used white in the bobbin when it was suppose to be a green/purple variegated. I became annoyed with myself that I pulled the quilt off the frame and set it aside for awhile. It was because of this error that I made the personal challenge for myself to quilt a quilt each week for a year. Mom and I pulled out the quilting with the white bobbin in October. Again I set it aside as I figured what motifs I wanted to use. I used white in the top thread and like the effect. I have Leah Day's Crafty class to used a contrast thread instead of a thread that blends in. To her point it is much easier to see when quilting and I so like the effect.
Size: 75 x 75
I created the Flag Stone on Edge. It requires starting at the outer edge of the block and work inward. If the block is too large it will not work because of the throat size limitation and requires rolling and unrolling the quilt. I have sketched this in my quilt notebook also.
Another of my favorites is the template by Sally Terry that is then echoed. I plan to use this on another quilt soon.
