Medallion Round 5 2018 - 2019

It took me a long time to figure out what to do with this one.

I finally decided to ad stems and leaves to the flowers.  This also completes the medallion.

Medallion Round 4 2018 - 2019

No one signed up for this round so I took it to challenge myself with all this pink.

This is my go to border. I really like how it worked out.

Here it is completed.

Medallion Round 3 2018-2019

No one signed up for the next round so I did.

I wanted to try this border.

Here it is completed.

Medallion Round 2 2018 -2019

DJ Berger made this applique center.  Round one did a great job in making the center stand out.

I want something classy to honor DJ's work. I ran out of the cream background and had to modify with the green background.

Here it is completed.

Medallion Round 1 2018-2019

This was in memory of the 2019 Sonoma and Napa County fires.

I had the gray and black smoke like fabric and though it would be good to represent how the fires burned night and day.  I appliqued the flames and stitch around each.

Here it is completed.  I like the green representing new growth.

365 Quilt Block Challenge 2019

To get back into quilting and keep myself motivated I decided to do Kathryn Kerr's 365Challenge.  https://www.365challenge.com.au/  Which is a new block every day.  I decided to use scraps and make it bright a colorful.

Kept up to date and in April 2019actually get to put a together the center and first set of dark 3 1/2 inch blocks.

In July 2019 got the 6 1/2 inch light blocks attached.

By October I was very tired of this.  I was asked if I would consider donating the top to the guild as the opportunity quilt.  After some thought I agreed.  I had most of the next dark 3 1/2 blocks done.  Since I wanted to be done I did a few more 6 1/2 block in dark and called it done.

November 2019

The reveal to the guild was done via zoom due to the pandemic in October. Opportunity quilt tickets will be sold until June 2022.  It was entered and accepted into 2020 Virtual Pacific International Quilt Show as well as New Quilts of Northern CA (a sub category of PIQF) in October of 2020.

Medallion Starts and Finishes for 2018 - 2019

#1  I made this Dresden in a class but didn't know what else to do with it.  Made with lots of Fairy Frost fabrics

#2  These candy fabrics were left over from the quilt stack-n-whack cool and warm stars.

#3 This was a left over from one of mom's quilts.

Quilt Club 2017 -- State Block Sampler

June - Dec 2017

I joint Quilt Club in June.  They are doing two sample blocks a month based on states.  I selected some fabric from stash to use.

At Hen House Retreat in Sept 2018 I put the blocks together that I did complete and used an ombre scrap from The Bog project as sashing.  Now I need to figure out borders.

Dec 2019
Added several boarders to make quilt top into a rectangle.  Also practiced making flanges.
