#2 Mom's Dino and Footprint log cabin (Jordan Fabrics kit, orange minkee backing). Quilted feather in white foot print fabric and pencil serpentine in colors. Orange inner border was quilted with paperclip motif. Sue W bought April 2020.
#3 Mom's Firetrucks and dalmatians. Got a firetruck quilting motif (maybe a Lori Kennedy post) and quilted it in the large squares and on the borders. Quilted flames in the stripped blocks. Sold at June 2019 quilt show.
#4 Mom made this quilt top and I started quilting it with a log cabin scene on golden thread paper back in the 90's. I got about 1/2 done but it was so difficult on a domestic machine. I made this the MQSC VP UFO challenge to complete quilting. It was easier to complete now that my quilting skills are better and on the sit down long arm Juki.
#5 Mom had started this second "Fire" quilt and I completed it last year. I wanted to enter in this year's quilt show special exhibit on the 2017 Fires. I outlined the houses and flames in the lower half and smoke in the upper half.
#6 Mom completed this quilt top a couple of years ago. I quilted grass in the lower left area, rocks and water in those blocks. I outlined the clouds and astrological star signs in the night sky blocks. The outer border is 1/2 matrix and 1/2 echo. Sold at June 2019 quilt show.
#7 Dino Community Quilt. Tried Chevron stencil (from friend) and pounce pad. I wanted to do an interlocking pattern but stencil did not hold up. So went to using "Line Tamer" ruler registration from the first row of chevrons and did a large zigzag. Donated to MQSC community quilts 2019.
#8 Mom's Space Aliens. I quilted feathers in the yellow triangle and straight lines to form a basket in the blue triangles. In the space alien blocks I quilted straight lines in yellow thread to form rays. (Gave to Holly's friend that helps first time mothers, June 2020).
#9 Mostly Modern Triad Color Challenge. I used the Line Tamer quilt ruler to spiral in on each face of the cubes. The shadows are zigzags and the background are straight lines to simulate light source.
#11 Hedgehog, skunk panel (orange & purple). I wanted the panel to stand out so I quilted a circle around each animal. Then between the rings I quilted various fan motifs. This was the second quilt Mary Mc requested.
#13 I had purchased a rope quilting ruler a couple of years ago and I wanted to try it out (FINALLY). So I found this quilt mom made that would be perfect for the rope motif to be in the sashing. I started with a long arm rope ruler and got very frustrated with it on my sit down Juki. While at PIQF I purchased another rope ruler that holds the ruler foot. The rope is more dense in motif but I like the use much better!!(Gave to Holly for her friend that helps first time mothers, June 2020).
#14 A few friends and I challenged ourselves to make Elizabeth Hartman's Awesome Ocean to have a group display at the 2020 quilt show. I had border fabric that I wanted to use and drove my color decisions. I stitch just inside each animal to help it pop (and not stitch in the ditch). Calm sea was the motif I used between the animals. I tried a kelp like motif for the border.
#15 BQ with Typewriter fabric. This was a quilt top mom made a few years ago. I saw Lori Kennedy's Steampunk quilting motif and thought this pattern to try it out on. I really like this quilting motif.
#16 I made this quilt top several years ago. I quilted feathers in the focal fabric space and outlined the red chevrons. The border is quilted with a feather.
#17 Maui Puzzle Box. I bought the Maui fabric in Maui last December and made this as a healing quilt for a good friend. I quilted by outlining the boxes and then echoing around the appliqued Hawaii islands all the way to the edges. The background fabric and the quilting really made it look like a view of the islands from a plane. The backing was a piece of the Maui fabric, the rest of the background and then a green/brown fabric. This was a gift for friend Bambi 2019.
#18 I wanted to practice this quilting motif and it is fairly quick and has a lot of movement. So I pulled out this quilt top I made probably back in the 90's and backed it with an aqua minkee. (Sue W bought, April 2020)
