Sept 2015
I started these about 2008 or 2009. I think then because the idea is from One-Block Wonders Encore book by Maxine Rosenthal and Joy Pelzmann and that book was copy righted in 2008. I got the book when I first saw. I had made One-Block Wonder quilts before and I like to use fabrics with a large repeat as it give the most diverse blocks, so that means a lot of fabric as you need 6 repeats. Add to that using the same fabric in two color ways the fabric really adds up. While at the Long Beach show, we make a visit to M&L Discount Fabrics which is where I found these Robert Kaufman Hawaiian sunset fabrics in the pink and blue color way at about $4 per yard. I could not pass that up!
These quilts have been in the making for these many years, as I lose interest in them and put them away. I had the rows put together both quilts when I went to Palm Desert on a mini retreat with friend Bambi in Oct 2014 and I got one of the quilt tops sewn together. At the Walker Ranch retreat in March of 2015 I got the rows for the second quilt top sewn together. I asked the ladies then about boarders, but didn't really like any of the suggestion so back into the box it went.
At one point I thought it would be nice to have a pillow fold over at the top of each quilt and then I finally decided on the boarders. In August 2015 I pulled out the UFO and put the boarders on the blue version quilt top.

Hen House Retreat - Sept 2015
WHAT FUN!! This was my 3rd retreat and mom's first. We had a great time even though it got very warm on Sunday afternoon. What a great bunch of women and the creative ideas just flow.
Mom worked on 3 quilts during the weekend and made good progress. I completed two UFO projects and got most of the way done on another of the stars. The blue and yellow was a pattern and fabric I had gotten from Quilter's Dream many years ago. The pattern the Road Less Travel was not even a printed pattern yet. I tired several layouts but the Hen House majority liked this one which is the pattern layout.
This was a Guild guest speaker and class from probably 3 years ago. I can't remember who and I'm going ask at the next meeting. No one at Hen House remember either and there was at least one person there who also took the class. The Hen House Committee was great in their ideas for both the red boarder and the circular boarder. I really didn't like this quilt when I pulled it out again after all these years but now I do. Next step QUILT IT!!
Size: 36 x 36 (quilting completed Oct 2015)
I got mostly done with this star while at Hen House. Finished at home the next weekend.

Twinkle Rainbow Stars
Sept 26, 2015
I don't know when Mom made this quilt top, but it has been several years. It was a kit from Pincushion Boutique. The pattern Party Poppers by Pressed for Time Quiltworks. Fabrics a fairy frost and the star and rainbow fabric have glitter embedded. Very sparkly quilt and cheerful. The quilting was a stipple with stars in the body of the quilt. The outer boarder was hooked on feathers and the inner boarder I followed a few of the curvy rainbow lines.

2014 - 2015 Finished Medallions
These are the Medallions I worked on or started in the 2014 - 2015 cycle.
I contributed the start (centers) on these:
This was a kit mom had tried but found the inset seams to difficult. I kept most of the batiks but did provide one and some of the white fabric.
These leftover were from a quilt kit I made. It is not part of this blog yet as I still need to quilt it.
This Poppies one is the only medallion I "won" this year. Bambi had also worked on this and said she wanted it if I won it so I gave it to her (instead of having them select another winner). Fabrics were from a quilt kit mom did.
These were leftover scraps from a Pincushion Boutique kit that mom did. It is not part of this blog yet as it still needs to be quilted.
The center fabric was a great overall fabric and I did provide a fairly large portion of it. I was surprised it did not get used through out the quilt. Since I couldn't just submit a single fabric print, I did the flying geese, trees and brick path around it. I called this Town Square.
I did round two on these.
There is another post on my efforts on this one.
I did not originally sign up for this one but since I completed the one above early I took this one on as no one had signed up for round two. The inspiration was from a quilt I saw. The black, print and white are 1 inch wide so easy to make fit almost anything. I really like the result. The center was from a guild class by Rami Kim and is woven.
I worked on the third round. There is another post on my efforts. I really like how this one cam out.
I worked on the fourth round. There is another post on this one, but I'm surprised that the yellow was not used in the final row. To even it out. Oh well.
Another post on this one. No one worked on it in round 5.
I worked on the 5th (the final) round. There is another post on this.

Baby boy Jones
I made this for my boss who is about to have a baby. This was a Pincushion Boutique kit that I purchased at the MQSC Quilt Show last June. Pattern was Check It Out by Pressed for Time Quiltworks I quilted it with Matrix from Leah Day. The quilt lines were less then an inch apart and therefore dense. I did wash the quilt before giving it to her and is softened up some and I expect it will soften with each washing.

Flannel Cabin in the Woods
September 2015
I discovered I had put in the wrong color bobbin thread and quilted a large section of a different quilt. Which of course was very upsetting as I now had to "unquilt" that. To appease my feelings of wasted time I pulled out this quilt and put it on the frame and did a largish stipple just so I could feel a sense of getting something done. Got it quilted in just about an hour. Mom had made the top many years ago. The kit came from the quilt shop in Mt Shasta. She purchased it on one of those first few trips to Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show.

Fall Colors 9 Patch Pizzazz
August - September 2015
I bought the main fabric for this at BJ Fabrics in Bend while there this year in July. It is a new computer printing done on fabric. I wish I had taken a picture of the fabric before I cut it up. When I saw I instantly thought it would make a great 9 Patch Pizzazz. I used 3 accent fabrics instead of 1 (burnt orange, sky and brown). The blender fabric I got a Tater Patch on the same trip this past summer and before I got the main fabric. Serendipitous. I am pleased with the outcome. I am going to put on two boarders.

Woodland Fairies
August 2015
Mom made this quilt top several years ago. For awhile there was a lot of these panels with fairies. I think this is the third one she made. There was a blue one but I can't remember the other. Both sold. We have fabric to make one more with yellow/green panel of fairies.
This was my 2nd quilt done completely on the Juki Virtuoso and I am more confident and able to control the quilt better. I did parallel lines very close together in the peach area and really like the effect. I did a scallop in the tiny olive boarder which is okay. In the red/orange is tried a flip flop scallop but wasn't very consistent so need to work on that more. In the cream area I did script "l's" and a feather in the outer most boarder. I outlined each of the fairies.
