Two color-way One Block Wonder Hawaiian Style

Sept 2015

I started these about 2008 or 2009.  I think then because the idea is from One-Block Wonders Encore book by Maxine Rosenthal and Joy Pelzmann and that book was copy righted in 2008.  I got the book when I first saw.  I had made One-Block Wonder quilts before and I like to use fabrics with a large repeat as it give the most diverse blocks, so that means a lot of fabric as you need 6 repeats.  Add to that using the same fabric in two color ways the fabric really adds up.  While at the Long Beach show, we make a visit to M&L Discount Fabrics which is where I found these Robert Kaufman Hawaiian sunset fabrics in the pink and blue color way at about $4 per yard.  I could not pass that up!

These quilts have been in the making for these many years, as I lose interest in them and put them away.  I had the rows put together both quilts when I went to Palm Desert on a mini retreat with friend Bambi in Oct 2014 and I got one of the quilt tops sewn together.  At the Walker Ranch retreat in March of 2015 I got the rows for the second quilt top sewn together.  I asked the ladies then about boarders, but didn't really like any of the suggestion so back into the box it went.

At one point I thought it would be nice to have a pillow fold over at the top of each quilt and then I finally decided on the boarders. In August 2015 I pulled out the UFO and put the boarders on the blue version quilt top.

Got the boarder done on the second color-way of these quilts:
