Mark Lipinski Throw Me a Curve Mystery Quilt class

May 23, 2015,

MQSC had Mark Lipinski as a speaker and he taught the class "Throw Me a Curve Mystery Quilt".  Mom and I both got to attend (so popular there was a lottery for getting to attend the class.) We worked on the quilt together in the class.  It was a fun class.  After making the several different kinds of blocks the rest of the time was spent arranging them in different ways.  Mark often called it the "ugliest quilt". The objective of the class was to exerciser our creativity. Mark said that most people would not finish the quilt within the year.  If so we should attempt to regroup and work on the arrangements again.  I know of 4 people that did complete their quilts as they were entries in our Wine Country quilt show this past June.

Here are some of the arrangement from the class

These are my attempts from the class.

June 2016, I got our blocks out and went through several arrangements.  I would like the arrangement but then a day or so latter I would hate it and rearrange again.  I did this for about a week.  I found that asymmetrical arrangements made me uneasy.

So I decided to go with a symmetrical design.

I liked this layout a lot except in reminded me of people too much so this is my final layout.

I wanted to try this border (Border Bling I by Janna Thomas) so in efforts to make this quilt "better" I added it.  I do like how the border turned out and it is okay with the quilt.

Size: 66 x 66.  Need to quilt it.
