Three different patterns are being worked on by the Village People group. I have just joined the group and with Nancy suggestion for a beginner I'm doing The Bog.
Got the pattern for the Harrier Hen. Great instructions from Nancy and fun group. Didn't get very far during the class. Started working on it while at Colleen Granger's retreat then put it away for a week or so. Pulled it out and decided to start over using Stick-N-Peel on the pieces as I'm feel so awkward trying to get the edges turned under with the needle sweep method. Got the bird done in two evenings and please with the results. Did have some difficulties with keeping the pieces aligned per the pattern (small shifting). Will ask Nancy about it next meeting
Dec. Got the pattern for the badger. What a fun group! The facts about the badger was great too. Nancy suggest using plastic sheet protector to copy the image onto and then it can be placed on top of the applique for placement (instead of using the pattern). Nancy gave a tutorial on making eyes. Got the badger done in time for the Jan meeting.
Jan. Got the pattern for the Irish hare. So nice to catch-up with several of the group on how their holiday plan went. The lions that many are making are coming out beautiful! I'm so impressed. I also really like the animals doing the sites in SF that the other third of the group is doing. Nancy's patterns are so great! Got the pattern traced and fabrics selected during the class. Mom sewed with the bag ladies. We left and got lunch with Dale before heading home.
Feb. Now for the common frog, damsel fly and bog flowers.
Mar - Oct. This has been a bad/sad year and I found some solace in doing hand applique. It kept my hands busy but now I think of mom every time I hand applique.
Nov: Finished the applique and put on borders. Now to quilt.
