I purchased several 5" panels of these candy squares while on our Hersey PA trip in summer of 2015, we also purchased the spectrum of colors used in the stars. I knew immediately I was going to do a stack-n-whack but not sure of which pattern. Soon after getting home I went through all my Stack-n-whack books. I wanted to make Crossroads (g 33) in the Stack-n-Whack-epdia book. I liked the use of black and white. I used "cool" colors for the stars with white back ground and "warm" colors for the stars with black. I started making the stars but got discouraged that it wasn't coming out the way I envisioned, therefore it became a UFO.
In mid-May I wanted to complete or dispose of a UFO before starting a new project so I pulled this one out. I almost decided to give the stars to next year's Spring sale whey I decided to lay it out. I like the alternating black and white stars. I then pulled out a this color geometric fabric. I determined two motifs was almost the perfect size. Adding the black-n-white 4 patch was the perfect transition corner stones.
I struggled with what to make the inset triangles. I tried black-n-white checks both the same size and the corners and smaller, no good. I tried more of the candy panels but it got too busy. Finally settled on black on bottom and right side and white on top and left sides. I'm pleased with the final result.
Size 52x68
