Harmony Ridge Retreat

April 23 -28

A small group of members from MQSC put together a retreat at Harmony Ridge in Nevada City Sunday afternoon to Friday afternoon.  Mom and I had a great time.  What I did.

Sunday afternoon
Finish blocks and put together the rows of the quilt Square Peg by Sew Many Creations.

Monday
Pulled out this 20+ year UFO,Welcome to my Cabin by Nancy Smith & Lynda Milligan.  I had been stuck on last borders as they are applique leaves and flowers.  I had done one border but hated it.  I had done a satin stitch with a variegated thread and hated the effect.  One of the other borders I had done a few of the leaves but also hated the satin stitch.  The group gave me permission to not put on the last set of borders and call the project done!  What a great feeling to just say it is good enough and done!

Started Mom on a stack-n-whack with a colorful bird fabric we had bought at the Concord show.  I planned to do a tumbling block pattern with Fairy Frost.  Mom did the stack-n-whack and I worked on the tumbling blocks using the vast amount of Fairy Frost fabrics.

Tuesday
Continued to work on the stack-n-whack tumbling block.

We all went to Sugar Pine quilt shop after lunch.  Mom got a couple of kits and I bought a pattern for bag.

Pulled out the butterfly paper piece quilt I designed. Worked on it between other projects.

Wednesday
Mom finished all of the stack-n-whacks. I continued selecting and doing the tumbling blocks.  By the end of the day got tired of working on it and put it in the box.

Mom worked on one of her kits from Sugar Pine quilt shop.

Started to trace of Kermit, the Frog by Grace J Errea applique pattern. Not sure how to do the Stitch-N-Peel with this pattern.  Plus using the 8 1/2 x 11 Stitch-N-Peel are too difficult with the size of this pattern.  So after spending several hours I decided to order Stitch-N-Peel by the yard.

Thursday
In afternoon I decided to start quilting on one of Mom's quilts, Over & Down Under by All Through the Night.  I'm just going to do straight stitching on each side of the seam line.

Friday
Continued quilting Mom's quilt. Actually completed quilting and binding once home so it could be put in the boutique for sale.  Size 55 x 55 Sold $130 from boutique.

Helped mom with a few of her projects.  Packed up a left at 2:00.  We then went to the Best Western and checked-in as we are going to the Grass Valley Quilt show on Saturday.  Dale and Theresa are also going to the show so we all had dinner together after shopping at Sugar Pine Quilt shop & Ben Franklin.
