I read the instructions for Harriet's Double Nine-Patch Chain quilt. Started work on my version of the quilt but got distracted with life and didn't work on the project for almost two weeks. When I went back to it, I forgot the details and did not re-read the instructions so made all of the corner blocks the same instead of half of the blocks being mirror images. Also totally went back to my old habits and did not fan any of the seams. I was too far into the project when I realized my errors to undo them. I was able to coach Mom so she didn't laze back into old habits. Another issue I had was that the tan fabric I had chosen must have been of a lesser quality as the fabric did not behave well and no matter the straightening to the grain the subtle cross hatching in the fabric was always becoming crooked. One other item I screwed up on was the border. If I had measured the quilt before adding the borders I would have realized that it was just a small amount over the width of the fabric and so cutting the borders lengthwise would have been better. Mine is the purple and bright floral, Mom's is the orange and small floral. Each are 57 x 57.
