Nov - Dec 2014
My Mom made this quilt top in 2014. The pattern is Yellow Brick Road. It was a kit that she purchased several years ago. I was given a large pink fleece fabric and decided to use it as the backing. To keep the quilt light weight I did not use any batting. I wanted to practice echoing so I first meander with hearts and stars then went back and echo those shapes to fill edge to edge. I enjoyed the quilting process and did not get bored with it. I also like how the combination of the cotton top and fleece back became very soft and pliable. In the borders I tried a new motif for me based on swirl hook from Angela Walters's book Free Motion Quilting. The problem I had was keeping the motif consistent both in style and size. I think my issue with consistence was due to my getting bored with the motif. In the future I need to figure how I could establish register marks to maintain consistency. The corner stones were quilted using Square 1 from Angela Walters's book Shape by Shape. I had a couple of false starts but perfected the method and like the result.
Size: 56" x 56" SOLD to Mary Mc
